    The Taiyo Maru, arrives at Honolulu harbor at 8:30 A.M on November 1, 1941 to take Japanese citizens living in Hawaii home to Japan. The Taiyo Maru was actually a spy ship in disguise that was observing Hawaii for an attack by Japan.
  • The Submarines sail

    By the end of the first week of November, Vice Admiral Nagumo's strike force of the First Air Fleet was being readied for the long voyage. Soon, they set sail. It takes them a month to get to Hawaii. During this time, they face refueling problems and harsh weather.
  • This Means War

    Attack on Pearl HarborPresident Roosevelt reads a typed message from Japan that had been delivered to him by his generals. He quotes, "this means war". But he didn't summon his cabinet, nor did he relay his feelings of alarm with his military leaders. He believed that it meant war within a week or a month, not hours.
  • Last Day of Peace: Honolulu

    countdown to Pearl Harbor: Last days of peace.A fire burned behind a building on Nuuana Avenue in Honolulu. It was the result of the "Winds Execute" message from Tokyo. All secret records and codes were being burned.
  • Depth-bombed Sub

    The First Submarine squadron, five of the undersea craft that had sailed from Japan in November, place depth charges around Pearl Harbor and the battle begins.
  • Attack! Attack! Attack!

    The Japanese planes attack the U.S destroyer ships. The air strike is led by Commander Fuchida. The planes start lighting up the harbor with their bombs. The defenders rush to their positions as an officer sounds the alarm.
  • The Arizona Dies

    The Arizona is hit by one of Fuchida's high level bombers, blowing up the ship's forward powder magazines and boilers. More than 1,000 of the Arizona's men are killed. The shock wave from the explosion crossed the harbor with such power that it swept men of the decks of the Vestal, Nevada, West Virginia.
  • The Second Wave

    The second wave of Japanese panes arrive to replace Fuchida's squad of planes. As the first wave leaves, the Pearl Harbor defense become much more furious. Guns boomed from all corners of the harbor. Gun barrels were so hot that paint melted off of them. Some of the mini subs from Japan were destroyed by the surviving U.S destroyers.
  • A Date which will live in Infamy

    At 10:00 a.m., the Japanese war planes retreat. After a long hard battle, Pearl Harbor is left in ruins. Everyone is expecting another attack, but it never comes. In the meatime, the wounded are rushed to the hospital to get treated. For the soldiers of the destroyed ships, the living are rescued and treated for their wounds. Meanwhile in Japan, no tears are shed in Tokyo.
