In December of 1955 in Montgomery, Alabama where African American community members refused to ride city busses to protest "separate but equal" rules regarding where they sit on the bus. They where forced to sit in the back of the bus and where not allowed to sit in the front. This was significant because they protested by walking in routes together in solidarity. -
In 1961 in Albany, Georgia groups of activists aimed to desegregate the voters coalition. The movement was founded by local black activists and ministers. -
In August of 1963 activists marched in Washington for rights that they needed. The purpose was to march for economic and racial equality. -
The Poor Peoples March or Campaign was a march where protestors demanded that the government helps address unemployment and the lack of jobs and money. -
Bloody Sunday was a massacre where 26 unarmed protestors where shot. They where simply protesting for there rights and they where shot.
