    In December of 1955 in Montgomery, Alabama where African American community members refused to ride city busses to protest "separate but equal" rules regarding where they sit on the bus. They where forced to sit in the back of the bus and where not allowed to sit in the front. This was significant because they protested by walking in routes together in solidarity.

    In 1961 in Albany, Georgia groups of activists aimed to desegregate the voters coalition. The movement was founded by local black activists and ministers.
