    Who: Led by Martin Luther King, James Bevel, Fred Shuttlesworth, and others.
    Why/what: To end discriminatory economic policies in Alabama City.

    March on Washington
    Who: Led by Martin Luther King, over 200,000 people attended that day.
    Why/what: Protest for jobs and freedom for all African Americans. This is where MLK said his "I have a dream" speech.

    Who: Led by John Lewis and Rev. Hosea Williams
    Why/what: Result of protesters trying to march peacefully from Selma, Alabama to the state capital, Montgomery. The protesters were fighting for lack of voting rights for African Americans. The result was state troopers intruding and beating many of them.
