    Constitution of the U.S. granted citizenship and equal civil and legal rights of african american and slaves who had been emancipated after the american civil war. This was progress because this helped the african americans.

    15 Amendment
    The 15th Amendment was to prohibit the federal and state government from denying a citizen the right to vote based on citizen skin color. This was progress because this gave the african americans the ability to vote.

    United States Supreme Court case in which the Court declared state laws establishing separate public schools for black and white students to be unconstitutional. I think it was progress because they changed the laws to make schools unsegregated

    Civil-rights protest during which african americans refused to ride city buses in Montgomery, Alabama to protest segregated seating. This was progress because it helped African Americans sit where they want to on the bus.

    Groups of white and African American civil rights activists who participated in Freedom Rides, bus trips through the American South in 1961 to protest segregated bus terminals. It was progress because it prohibited segregation in interstate transits.

    He was an American civil rights activist. He died in 1963 by assassination. I think it was a minor set back because one of the voices of civil rights has died.

    These are two separate dates. Malcolm X was shot before he was about to deliver a speech about his new organization called the Organization of Afro-American Unity on Feb 21 1965.
    MLK jr was shot at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee on April 4, 1968. I feel both of these incidents were minor setbacks because we lost two voices that spoke up through racism and fought for our civil rights.

    Supreme court case that struck down state laws banning interracial marriage in the U.S. This was progress because this case struck down laws and let people marry different races and bring more people together.

    Rodney King was caught by the Los Angeles police after a high-speed chase. The officers pulled him out of the car and beat him brutally. This wasn't progress because this would still cause racial tension.
  • Ferguson, MO riots

    Ferguson, MO riots
    involved protests and riots that began after the fatal shooting of Michael Brown by white police officer Darren Wilson. This wasn't progress because it caused more violence.
