    Thr First Hot Air Balloon
    The hot air balloon was the first way that people could fly. It was invented as a war machine by the Confederate in the Civil War. It was not used, however, due to the lack of safety. In 1876 ,two brothers, Joseph and Jacques Montgolfier, flew their hot air balloon over France to prove that it was safe.

    On November 2, 1880, the first blimp was made by a French Physicist named Jean Rozier. he was inspired by the first hot air balloon and wanted to improve it some. Blimps were than used as a war machine until the Hindenburg crashed on the Germans in WWI.

  • The First Monoplane

    The First Monoplane
    Many advancements were made in flight in the years after the Wrights brothers first flights. One of the biggest the biggest advancements was the first monoplane. A monoplane was powered by a propeller and made out of paper. These planes were used in WWI, but not long after.
  • The first Passenger plane

    The first passenger plane was made before many of the other war or personal aircrafts. The first one was made May 14th 1908. It carried 4 people and was the first plane to carry more than one person.

    In late WWI, monoplanes were starting to be made out of metal instead of paper, however, these planes were uncommon due to the weight of the plane. In the early 1930s, however, the planes were becoming more common. By WWII, the planes were the main plane. The planes were used until the Vietnam Was.

    The Germans in WWII made the first jet, however, the jet was top secret until late in the war. The Italians made the first jet that was known to the world on Aug 27, 1940. The jet was no longer powered by a prop., but by an engine. The jet is still used today.

    The first manned spaceship was made by the Soviet Union during the space race. The ship was called Vostok 1. The spaceship was sent into space and orbited the Earth before landing again. Space exploration and spaceships continued until the space race ended at the end of the cold war.
