  • Inman Leaves for the war

    Inman leaves Ada to go to war and leaves her with a kiss that starts her off on her patient journey of waiting for his return.

  • Ada's dad dies

    reverend monroe dies, leaving her orphand, abandond by servents, and penniless.

  • Teague pursues Ada and she rejects his advances.

    Even though this option would be her easiest choice for salvation and security. This could also have been a plot to try and get her land.

  • Ada trys to sell her fathers watch for food

    This shows how desparate she was.

  • Ada asks for food the first time

    This is a point were she was extremely desperate.

  • Ada meets Ruby

    She is doing actual farm work for the first time such as mending her fence, baking an apple pie, and making her first stall, This is the point in the story were she starts to mature.

  • When Ada finds Sally Swanger in the fence

    Ada and Ruby come to find later that Esco and his sons were killed by the homegaurd and that Sally was tourchered. This shows how war can make people evil.

  • Ada gives Ruby a bracelet

    This shows that Ruby and Ada hace finally become equals.

  • Ada shoots her first turkey

    Another step in her return
