  • Louisiana Territory

    With America's population doubling every 25 years., America didn't have enough land to support athe people. In 1801 Napoleon Bonaporte, France's military dictator, forced Spain to give up the Louisiana Territory, including New Orleans to him. Since the French threatened to block America's access to the market in New Orleans, Jefferson started to consider joining the British alliance to fight France

    Babary War

    North African Barbary states that include Morocco, Algiers, Tunis, and Tripoli started to seize the American ships in the Mediterranean Sea. When Washington and Adams found out about this,they paid protection money to the Barbary states, so they were allowed to send their ships through the Meditteranean, which was the Barbary states of Tripoli. The Ruler of Tripoli started to increase the price the Americans had to pay and Jefferson sent a navy to seize the port of Tripoli in 1801-1805 and won.
  • Louisianna Purchase

    Jefferson thought he could avoid war by buying New Orleans from the French. James Monroe and Robert Livingston approached Napolean with there intension to purchase that territory. Napolean didn't have an army or the money to fight the British, so he sold the Louisiana Territory to Jefferson for $15 million.Jefferson expanded the territory from the Mississippi River to the Rocky Mountains.
  • Lewis & Clark Expedition

    In 1804, Jefferson Sent Meriwether Lewis and William Clark to explore the new land. This was ended up to be the lewis and clark expedition, this expedition came to symbolize the self-reliance with which we probed and later settled the West. This helped American ceretainty that with our land and water resourcewe could achieve great national goals.
