  • General Bernard Montgomery and Admiral Louis Mountbatten began to plan the invasion.

  • Canadian training begins for Operation Rutter.

  • It was decided that the raid would take place on July 4th, or the next day promising decent weather.

  • Bad weather still occurs, the date is postponed.

  • 24 landing ships are being loaded with new cargo - tanks.

  • Early: last day that the tides would suit the Allies.

  • Late: 237 ships are loaded with troops and equipment. The ships set sail from four different ports.

  • 3:00 AM: Canadian, British & American Soldiers arrive seemingly undetected 8 miles away from Dieppe.

  • 3:48 AM: Allied ships run in to a German convoy.

  • 4:30 AM: Canadian, British & American Soldiers arrive on shore.

  • 5:20 AM: The main invasion force arrive on shore.

  • 5:35 AM: Allied armour makes it to the beach. Half of the tanks are lost by then.

  • 11:00 AM: Many are trapped, forced back or dead to a prepared German defence.

  • 2:00 PM: All living have been rescued from Dieppe, France.
