    Mary Ingles is kidnapped from Drapers Medows
    On the morning of July 8th, 1755, Mary Draper Ingles was kidnapped from her home at Draper's Medow along with her two sons, sister-in-law and Henry Lenard. A group of indians attacked their home and killed many of their loved ones and took them as captives back to their village. This was important because it greatly changed the course of Mary's life

  • Bettie Elenor Ingles is born

    Bettie Elenor Ingles is born
    Mary Ingles gives birth to her 3rd child, a girl which she names Bettie Elenor after her sister-in-law and mother. She gives birth in the mdiddle of the woods on the ground with help only from Bettie. This was important because Mary became know for it by the indians because she was very dignified and didn't cry out. They respected her for it.

    Indian Party Arrives At Shawnee Town
    After about 30 days the small party of indians and their captives ariveat a shawnee town where they are held with other Shawnee captives. This event is important because it changes the course of Mary's captivity.
  • Mary and the prisoners run gauntlet

    Mary and the prisoners run gauntlet
    A few days after the group of prisoners arive at the Shawnee village they must run naked through a line of indians who hit them as they pass. They have to make it all the way to the end of the line without falling. This event is important because it shows how much dignity Mary has and that she doesn't fall apart and trys to help her family and friends to push through the pain and embarassment.

    Prisoners are auctioned
    The prisoners are taken to the indian's main tent and are sold to members of the community. Mary's two sons are taken by one of the chieftains and leave to another Shawnee town. Mary and Grettle, another prisoner are bought by two frenchman that live among the indians. This day is very important in Mary's life becuase she loses her children. Also it makes her almost unvulnerable because she has nothing left to loose.

    Mary and Grettle Escape from the group of Indians
    Mary forms a plan to escape from the group of indians that bought her and took her to the salt lick. She decides to leave her baby girl with the indians because it is her best chance. Mary escapes with little supplies and another captive named Grettle. This day was important because Mary was on her way home!
  • Grettle attcks Mary

    Grettle attcks Mary
    Grettle finally reaches her breaking point and attacks Mary. She tries to kill her because she is starving and cannot find any food. Mary nearly falls to Grettle and narrowly escapes death. When Mary breaks away from Grettle she manages to make it over to the other side of the river. This event is important because it separates Mary and Grettle and makes them more vulnerable to the elements.

    Mary finds Adam Harmons Cabin
    Mary Ingles arrives at Adam Harmon and his son's cabin where she is taken care of and getts food and rest that she greatly needs. This is important because Mary is almost home and now has the help of someone to live off of and make her way home.

    Mary Ingles Arrives Home
    After a long journey of around 800 miles and more than 40 days, Mary Ingles arrived home at Draper's Medows. She arrived in awful conditions, but still alive. This is important because Mary's ordeal was finaly over!
  • Mary is reuntied with her husband

    Mary is reuntied with her husband
    Mary Ingles is reuntied with her husband, Will. He was the thing that she lived for on her journey and was what she kept living for. This is important because it is her reward for making it the whole way and she can begin to regain her life and start again.
