    http://www.ushistory.org/declaration/related/stampact.htm bill was offered to the parliament and approved by the lords, went into effect two weeks later. the stamp act was a tax where any document , papers had to have a stamp on it. the colonist were outraged. There was a man walking around the town with the stamps. some colonist feathered the worker out of rage. some were even more voilent.

    also gave britian the power to give a number of items that were allowed to be imported to the americas. colonies also had to pay revenue. this caused widespread protest. gradually parliament took all taxes of items except tea.
