    Adam Smith Writes 'The Wealth of Nations'
    Adam Smith writes a book on capitalist economic theory called 'The Wealth of Nations'. In this book, he explains the basics of 'laissez-faire' economic policy, which insists that the government should not interfere with the economy.

    In 1802 John Dalton, an English chemist established the modern theory of an atom. He came up with the atomic theory, which discovered that matter is made of units called atoms. All matter cannot be created or destroyed, that all atoms are identical in their properties and a chemical reactions rearranges atoms.

    Telegraph that Reached Balimore
    Samuel Morse invented the telegraph. This carried messages and news by electricity faster than any other invention. He also invented the Morse Code, that allowed communication by tapping movement. This affected people because it made messages easily sent out. In 1844 the first telegraph message was sent out from Washington to Baltimore.
  • Karl Marx Publishes 'The Communist Mainfesto'

    Karl Marx, a socialist thinker, published 'The Communist Manifesto' with his co-worker Frederich Engels. In the book, Marx explains the histoiry of the struggle between the rich (bourgeoisie) and the poor (proletariat). Marx predicts a violent revolution where the proletariat overthrow the bourgeoisie and create the system of communism.

    Charles Darwin came up with the idea called evolution. It gave important facts that animals adapted to their environment in order to survive. He published "The Origin of Species" in 1859 which explained what evolution is and challenged the ideas of the church and many religions. Socially it told people that God didn't make living things. Some people believed his theory and gave up religion. This caused much conflict. In science it will cause a more in dept analyses on how life was formed- D/M

    Gregor Mendel
    Gregor Mendel discovered why people inherit certain traits. The father of genetics, he decided to study genetics by creating the peaplant experiment. Using two different types of pea plants he cross polinated them and realized that pea plants have many traits that can be tracked from one generation to another. Gregor then stated that his discovery also applies to other living things. Due to Gregor Mendel, people toady now kow they look the way they look today due to genes from their parents.

    dmitri mendeleeve was born at tobolsk, siberia in 1834 and died 1907. mendeleev studied science at st. petersburg and graduated in 1856. Mendeleev is best known for his work on the periodic table, and arranging the 63 known elements into the periodic table. this published in principles of chemistry in 1869. his first periodic table was complied on the basis of arranging elements by atomic weight.     In 1897, Thomas Edison invented the light bulb. this showed that he figured out how to harvest and minipulte electricity for a longer period of time. This invention gave people the ability to see better in darker areas. the light was used for many things such as houses, factories, and schools. he also created the lighting system, which made electricity safe, practical, and economical.

    Louis Pasteur creates rabies vaccine and developes pasteurization
    Created the first vaccine for rabies and anthrax. He developed the process of pasteurization, where a liquid is boiled and then cooled to kill the bateria that causes the souring. This effected the economy by more daily products being sold and how milk gets cleaned. This effected the people because they were happy that they can keep there dairy products longer and cleaner. Lastly, this effected the government because they will pass a law to make sure milk is pasteurized.

    Guglielmo Marconi succeeded at the first over the sea communication
    In 1899, Guglielmo Marconi flashed the first wireless signal acroos the English Channel. 2 years later, he recieved the letter "S" back from England to New Foundland. This was the first transatlantic radio telegraph message in 1902. This was important because it was a more efficent way of communicating with different continents over seas. Also, it will imporove the spread of ideas and news and increase the amount of trade between countries.

    In 1908, Henry Ford created the Model T. The Model T was the beginning of the automobile industry. The model T was the first car that could compete with a horse. Henry Ford created "Fordism" which is mass production of inexpensive goods coupled with high wages for workers. This idea is still used today. Ford also created manufacturing innovations that made automobile affordable, competitive and profitable, changing America forever.

    The Wright brothers (Wilbur and Orville) invented and built the world’s first successful airplane. This occurred in Kitty Hawk, NC on January 1, 1914. The brothers made the first controlled and sustained aircraft. These planes were able to increase the speed of travel and the increase of trade. This also helped men when WW II first began.
