  • 1st Amendment

    The first amendment protects the freedom of religion,speech,press,right to assemble, and to petition. The amendment was ratified on Dec. 15, 1791 aswell as the other first 10 aendments.

  • 2nd Amendment

    This amendment protects the right to keep and bear arms, it was ratified on Dec. 15, 1791

  • 3rd Amendment

    Prohibits the forced quartering of U.S. troops, Ratified on Dec. 15, 1791.

  • 4th Amendment

    Prohibits searches and seizures without a searh warrant, Ratified on Dec. 15, 1791

  • 5th Amendment

    Protects the right to due process, and prohibits self incrimination, ratified on Dec. 15, 1791

  • 6th Amendment

    Protects the right to a speedy, fair trial, and to be informed of the accusations, ratified on Dec. 15, 1791

  • 7th Amendment

    Provides the right to a trial by jury is some civil cases, ratified Dec. 15, 1791.

  • 8th Amendment

    Prohibits cruel and unusual punishment, aswell as excessive fines and bail, ratified Dec. 15, 1791.

  • 9th Amendment

    Certain rights in the Constitution do not take away from the people rights, that are not named, in other words unenumerated rights, ratified on Dec. 15, 1791

  • 10th Amendment

    Limits the powers of the federal government, to those that are affected by it, ratified on Dec. 15, 1791, last amendment in the Bill of Rights.

  • 11th Amendment

    Limits the power of federal courts to hear lawsuits against state governments, brought by a citizen of another state, ratified on Feb. 7, 1795.

  • 12th amendment

    Revises the presidential election procedures, ratified on Jun. 15, 1804.

  • 13th Amendment

    Abolishes slavery and involuntary servitude, unless it is a punishment for a crime, ratified on Dec. 6, 1865.

  • 14th Amendment

    Provides the rules of being a U.S. citizen, and deals with issues after the Civil War, ratified on Jul. 9, 1868.

  • 15th Amendment

    Prohibits the denial of suffrage based on race,color,sex, or previous conditions of servitude.

  • 16th Amendment

    Allows the federal government to tax a persons income/salary, ratified Feb. 3, 1913.

  • 17th Amendment

    Allows senators to be directly elected.

  • 18th Amendment

    Establishes Prohibition of alcohol, and prohibits th manufacturing, distribution, sale, or purchase of alcohol, repealed by 21st amendment, ratified on Jan. 16, 1919

  • 19th Amendment

    Allows for women's suffrage. Gives women the right to vote and have equal rights, ratifid Aug. 18, 1920

  • 20th Amendment

    Known as the "lame duck" amendment, it changed the dates of the legislative sessions. Originaly congressmen served long after the were defeated for election, ratified on Jan. 23, 1933

  • 21st Amendment

    Repeals the 18th amendment. Allows the manufacturing, sale, purchase, and distribution of alcohol, ratified on Dec. 5, 1933.

  • 22nd Amendment

    This amendment limits the U.S. president the a maximum of two terms, or 10 years, ratified on Feb. 27, 1951

  • 23rd Amendment

    This amendment alows people in Washington D.C. Originally they were not allowed to cast their votes, ratified on Mar. 29, 1961.

  • 24th Amendment

    Prohibits the revocation of voting rights due to the non-payment of the poll tax, ratified Jan, 23, 1964.

  • 25th Amendment

    This amendment clarifies presidential succession, and what is to be done in the case of presidential disability, meaning the presidents seat would be passes down the the vice president etc.. ratified on Feb. 10, 1967.

  • 26th Amendment

    Establishes 18 as the national voting age, this means 18 year olds are able to vote on their 18th birthday and there after, ratified on Jul. 1, 1971.

  • 27th Amendment

    The last amendment added to the constitution to date, prevent Congressional salary from taking place until the beggining of the new term of Congress, ratified on May. 7, 1992.
