Internship 2010 (Nicole Beachum)

    Engaged in a phone conversation with the MGS director regarding staffing for the 2010 MGS session

    Another discussino about staff selection for the 2010 year--this meeting was in person instead of via phone. We also scheduled our official executive meeting date for March.
  • Calendar Update (1 Hour)

    Amended the calendar to reflect the 2010 year.
  • Executive Meeting (7 Hours)

    Met with the director, male head RA, and assistant director of academics to finalize the calendar, discuss staff selection, interview candidates, and discuss training.
  • Training Planning (2 Hours)

    Met with Charlotte Strickland (UCA) to discuss training ideas to be used for my staff training.
  • Calendar, Staff, Reservations (2 Hours)

    Amended the calendar to reflect changes in the schedule, contacted my RA staff and requested them to take a personality inventory for training purposes, made facility reservations with campus recreation.
  • Day 1 (6.5 Hours)

    Finalized the calendar, updated daily agendas to be includedi n the binders, picked up t-shirts, met with the director, ordered a mystery dinner kit for the staff-directed event.
  • Day 2 (8 Hours)

    Completed room assignments for female scholars, finalized loose ends for binders, communicated with RA staff about training, expectatoins, etc., and discussed specifics about the mystery theatre with a local theatre director.
  • Day 3 (5 Hours)

    Finalized leadership assignments, sent room assignments to community living, finalized documents to be added to the staff and scholar notebooks, wrapped up loose ends.
  • Day 4 (9 Hours)

    Created and printed scholar and staff nametags, stuffed and completed notebooks for faculty and staff, designed and printed notebook covers, labeled t-shirts and goody bags, and organized all of the above by RA.
  • Day 5 (4.5 Hours)

    Created afternoon activity list, organized and planned nightly activities, confirmed karaoke plans.
  • Day 6 (3.5 Hours)

    Revamped leadership program by adding and removing activities, communicated with male hall director about RA training, communicated with RAT (RAs in Training) about their tranning schedule and plan.
  • Day 7 (7.5 Hours)

    Drafted Star Activity descriptoin for leadership seminar, drafted introduction lifeline activity for leadership seminar, compiled leadership binder, activity bags, and printed scenario cards for another activity.
  • Day 8 (7.5 Hours)

    Contacted RA staff, finished leadership seminar binders and activity bags, met with theatre director to continue planning mystery theatre event.
  • Day 9 (9.5 Hours)

    Printed mystery theatre program, clues, casting signs, script, etc. Met with director, assistant director of programming, and head male RA, planned RAT training, planned RA training.
  • RA/RAT Training (12 Hours)

    Co-lead RA training with the male hall director, Lead the RAT training session. Practiced with the staff for the mystery theatre performance.
  • Leadership Training/Reunion (14.5 Hours)

    Lead the leadership training seminar (explained activities, timeline, answered questions, etc.) and planned, organized, and supervised the MGS class of 2009 reunion.
  • MGS 2010 Kick Off (12.5 hours)

    Lead and directed female scholar move in, met with RA staff, lead the afternoon activity, etc.

    Staff meetings (daily starting at 8:30am), plan and organize afternoon activities, ensure resident maintenance reports are submitted, direct RAs and RATs in responsibilities, teach leadership seminar on Mondays and Fridays, take attendance at each event, set up equipment for speakers, work with male halll director to ensure successful communication to scholars, direct afternoon activities, act as a leison between the RA staff and director, etc.
