    This terriable event happened at 1939 and ended during 1945. Hitler declared war against many Jews. This also occured the master race. When Jews gotm caught, they were sent to prisons or death camps. Some of the Jews were murdered. Plus, other people started hating the Jews during the Holocaust..

    Franklin D. Roosevelt
    During the 1940's F.D.R was re-elected for President. He was born in January 30, 1882. And many years past and he died on April 12, 1945. Franklin was still President of the United States when died so, the Vice President took over his term as President.
  • Pearl Harbor

    Sunday, December 7,1941, Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. As the war started, it created many jobs for the young men. During the massive war, many lives were lost like relatives and family members. FDR said, "Yesterday, December 7,1941-a date which will live in intary-the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately by royal and air forces of the Empire of Japan."

    At the midway battle Japanese fleet attack gaurded U.S military boats again and again. So many boats were damaged or destroyed. While attacking the military boats Japanese thought they can easily invaded Hawaii. That's how Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. During the battle 322 Japan planes were lost, Since that happened Japan won't ever threaten the U.S again.

    The Pentagon was named for its five sides. Plus, this wasn't just an office. It was the largest office in the U.S history, It is located at Arlington, Va. Which covered 35 acres. It employeed 40000 workers.

    Anne Frank was a hero to many Jews. During the Holocaust she hid in a secret annex with her family. Plus Anne Frank betrayed the German's and got sent to death camps. She died at age 15.

    One famous movie star helped the government to buy war bonds. The Skin of our Teeth won the Pulitzer Prize. And made it to the world permire.
  • Atomic Bomb

    Atomic Bomb
    During April 12, 1945 the very first atomic bomed was tested. So Truman called it S-1 for it code name. He had to face terrible choices. Franklin D. Roosevelt didn't seem this hard won victory.
  • Olympics

    In the summer there was olympic called, "The London Games." This event wasn't held here in the United States. There were only 59 countries that attended but, Japan and Germany didn't attend. When Japan and Germany didn't attend they were very angrey. Plus, it was a 1st time it showedon television. Since it was on T.V everyone started watching it.
  • Sports

    Back tyhen many people played sports for fun or for compintition. Young men between age 18 through age 26 were expected to serve in the military. This was harsh because some didn't spend time with their family and some did. Jakie Robinson was the first black perfessional baseball player. Since he played baseball, his whole team made it to the championship.
