Korean War
The U.S and the Soviet Union took themselves out of the Korean War giving the Koreans their weapon supply. The whole Korean penisula was taken over. Many nations were under the control of Douglas MacArthur. Korea at the end signed an agreement. Korea was still divied into two countries. I am not sure if it helped the cold war or not -
Soviet Invasion of Hungary
A communist leader Imre Nagy formed a new government. He promised the Soviet troops to leave Hungary. Hungarian fighters then left, but came back wanting to fight. this did not help the Cold War. -

The Bay of Pigs Invasion was mainly to help Fidel Castro get popular. The Bay of Pigs was very unsuccessful and was supported by the U.S government. The Bay of Pigs did help the Cold War. -
Cuban Missile Crisis
This crisis started off with Khrushchev secretly building missiles. Having a site where the missiles were, a U.S plane flew over the site spotting the secret missiles. Cuba was then involved in having found they were making missiles. I dont really think that this helped the cold war -
Soviet Invasion of Czechoslovakia
In 1966 Czechoslovak , followed the lead of Romania, rejected the Soviet Unions call for more military integration within the warsaw pact. -
Mao Zedong takes control of China
Mao Zedong estabilished the Chinese communist party. He formed the red army and his followers elected him as chairman of the chinese soviet Republic. -
Nixon Visits China
Nixon goes to visit China to make relations with them. Then Nixon visist helps the cold war out by getting the help of china to agree. -
Vietnam War
Date Rages from 1945-1975. The communists led revolts to the French. War then breaks out. The communstists and nationalists join together to fight against the French. Vietnam then became a divided country. This did not help the Cold War, but triggered it. -
Mikhail Gorbachev takes control of USSR
Having Gorbachev take control of the USSR helped him end the Cold War. Gorbachev took control of the Soviet Union, because he rose to his power and took control over the Soviet Union to help stop this cold war from getting worse -
Civil War in Nicaragua
Daniel Ortega was the soviet Union leader. This war weakened the country's economy. Ortega agreed to hold free elections. This did not help the Cold War because it weakned the economy. -
Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan
It was a 10 year war and it pretty much destroyed Afganistan. Their president was assasinated and they had 100,000 troops. The war left Afghanistan with severe political, economic problems. More than 1 million Afghans died in the war and 5 million became refugees. 15,000 Soviet soldiers were killed. I don't think that this really helped the cold war. (1979- 1989) -
Iran/Iraq War
The War caused a lot of damage.The war caused many economic problems because it involved with the two major oil producers. This did not help the Cold War. -
Fall of the Berlin Wall
The Fall of the Berlin Wall helped out the Cold War by ending it. People will always refer to the Berlin Wall as the making point of how to stop the Cold War. Why the Berlin Wall fell was because it was changing. -

The Soviet Union fell apart and became very weak. Having many different crisis's come in the Soviet then comes to an end not having the Cold War be helped. -
SALT Treaty Talks
The goal was to replace the agreement with a long term treaty. The U.S and the Soviet Union negotiated agreements. Having them negotiate the agreements helps make the cold war better and maybe even end soon.
