  • 220 BCE

    Eratosthenes (276–195 B.C.)

He used the sun to measure the size of the round Earth(longitude and Latitude) in 220 BC. He helped confirm the round Earth theory at the time. Longitude and Latitude is still used today.
  • 150

    Claudius Ptolemy (A.D. 90–168)

Pyolemy cataloged 48 constellations and names in 150 AD. This is important because even all these year. later we still use these names today.

    Nicolaus Copernicus(1473–1543)

Copernicus wrote a book on his deathbed about the intermittent retrograde motion of the planets in 1543. His ideas took almost hundred years to be credited but his ideas helped many future scientists understand the solar system.
  • 1572

    Tycho Brahe(1546-1601)

His goal was to achieve measuring to one minute of an arc and he did this in 1572. This was important because he was able to confirm that the sun when around the Earth and the other planets went around the sun.
  • Johannes Kepler (1571-1630)

He founded three laws of planetary motion in 1609. This later helped Newton discover the gravitational pull.
  • Sir Isaac Newton(1643–1727)

Newton is most famous for his law of gravity and the forces of motions between object which is Newton's Laws. He made his discoveries in 1665. Newton's laws are important because he determined how we are on Earth by gravity and how motion works.
  • Albert Einstein(1879–1955)

Einstein is most famous for his law of relativity in 1915. This helped develop electronics, nuclear power and GPS navigation.
