  • Hitler sezies Austria

    Hitler was received with great enthusiasm by the Austrian people, and he immediately announced that Austria had become part of the German Reich.
  • Hitler Appointed Chancellor

    Adolf Hitler took the reins of a 14-year-old German democratic republic which in the minds of many had long outlived its usefulness. By this time, the economic pressures of the Great Depression combined with the indecisive, self-serving nature of its elected politicians had brought government in Germany to a complete standstill.
  • Spanish Civil War

    The war increased international tensions in Europe in the lead-up to World War II, and was largely seen as a proxy war between the Communist Soviet Union and Fascist states Italy and Germany.
