Barbara Hepworth By p5m Jan 10, 1903 Barbara Hepworth was born in Wakefield (England). 1916 She studied at the Wakefield Girls’ High School. 1920 She went to Leeds School of Arts with Henry Moore. 1924 She won a West Riding Scholarship and went to Italy. 1925 She married John Skeaping at Florence’s Palazzo Vecchio. 1925 They moved to Rome and she learned to carve marble with Giovanni Ardini. 1926 They went back to London due to Skeaping’s poor health. Aug 3, 1929 They had a son: Paul Skeaping. 1932 Pierced form 1933 Barbara and John got divorced. 1934 Barbara and Ben Nicholson had triplets. 1938 She married Ben Nicholson. 1946 Pelagos 1951 Barbara and Ben got divorced. 1956 Curved forms 1960 She purchased a cinema building which she changed into a studio. 1963 Square and two circles May 20, 1975 She died on a fire in her studio.
