Alexey Pajitnov creates Tetris in 1984. However, was not able to publish due to Soviet Goverment. It was later bought by Henk Rogers who sold the game to Nintendo. Tetris also becomes a iconic game to modern day. Tetris is played by putting blocks in a assorted arrangement and to make sure you don't over fill the box. -

However, on release the game became a success, and lead to many numerous title of the Final Fantasy series. My favorite being Final Fantasy X. -

Doom may have not been the grandfather of 3D shooter games, but the game was the one to popularized it. Doom is a 3D shooter in which you go to room from room. With little knowing, it was also the start to wireless LAN-only multiplayer. -

The genre of MMO was not a huge biggie at the time, though, with a subscription that would make you broke, millions of people played the game. The game was the reason MMO was popularized and it is stilled played today with many updates. -

There is a group of scientists who make you happy before you die with their technology to change your memory. It leads to a really sad story which I hate to admit, made me cry. Although, it may not been the most important game, it was awarded the best indie rpg of 2011 and hold a special place in my heart. -
