The first oil strike in 1866, on Nacogdoges soil, was the start of tthe oil boom and the dawn of a new era. The discovery of oil in Texas got thousands of people excited and determined to find oil. The rush to drill brought one company, The Gladys City Oil Company, to strike at Spindletop, TX. The rig spewed for two days before it could be capped due to extreeme pressure. Oil will fund education and faminies for years to come.

The great depression began when the stock market crashed on Black Tuesday. Banks closed and people lost jobs and money. To make matters worse, a massive dust storm ran through Texas. It caused people to be shut inside their homes for days at a time.A war was needed to recover from the crash.

WWII begins when Germany invades Poland trying to reclaim land from WWI. That enrages France and Great Britan into declaring war on Germany. Within months, two alliances were formed, the Axis and Allies. The U.S stays out of it until Japan bombed Pearl Harbor in 1941. This war brought the U.S. out of the Great Depression.
