    The start of the progressive era was ruff with segregation in 1849 separating the colored and the whites. In 1850 Populism Started but didn’t get much attention until late 1900's. In 1900 the Galveston hurricane struck killing hundreds and going down as the worst hurricane in Texas history. Before the 19th amendment was established women weren’t allowed to vote legally so 1919 was a big year for women. Railroads would soon follow bringing transportation and more efficient trade.

    Oil Discovery

    The Spindletop strike of 1901 was the beggining of Texas oil production. It gave close to 100,000 barrels a day and started boom towns in around 1903 This provided many jobs for all races. In 1930 oil well were everywhere and everyone wanted oil. By 1931 oil prices dropped from about $1.10 a barell to $0.10. In 1932 Franklin D. Roosevelt temporaly stop oil production.

    WW1

    The start of WW1 was in 1914 when Austria Hungary declares war on Serbia; naturally we stay out of it. A year later Germany sinks the Louisiana killing around 125 Americans. This makes us want to join the war but in 1916 Poncho Villa attacks raiding and burning villages keeping us out of the war for another year. In 1917 George Zimmerman of Germany sends a document to Mexico asking them to declare war on the U.S.A so they can regain lost territory. Finally we enter the war and in 1919 end it.

    The Great Depression Part 1

    In 1920 the stock markets start to become noticed and part of the economy. That changes in 1929 when the stock market crashed almost all at once. In 1925 the dust bowl comes out leading the cause of the crash because farmers took out a lot of loans for better equipment and the dust bowl wiped out their crops causing them not to be able to pay bills and having a chain effect on the U.S.

    In 1935 black Sunday was established as a way for the U.S to remember the tragedy of the dust bowl. 5 years later the depression finally ended causing the stock markets and the economy to rise once more.

    In 1933 WW2 started and leading the charge was Adolf Hitler killing the Jews in the holocaust. again we stayed out of the war until 1941 were the Japanizes bombed pearl harbor were we soon joined the allies to stop the axis powers in another world war.1944 D-Day occurred when the allies successfully and won the battle this is known as the turning point of the war. In 1945 we dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan killing thousand and causing japan to surrender 6 days later.
