  • Wright Brothers first flight

    Wilbur and Orville Wright made the first sustained control flights in history. After two attempts to fly this machine, one of which resulted in a minor crash, Orville Wright took the Flyer for a 12-second, sustained flight on December 17, 1903. This was the first successful, powered, piloted flight in history.

    Einstein discovery of general relativity

    Between 1905 and 1915 Einstein published theories on special relativity, the speed of light, and the laws of gravity.He determined that the laws of physics are the same for all observers, and that the speed of light in a vacuum was independent of the motion of all observers.

    The Titanic was the largest movable object ever made at the time. After it set out on a maiden voyage it sank in the North Atlantic Ocean after striking an iceberg.

  • Russian Revolution

    The Russian Revolution was the collapse of the autocratic empire under Tsar Nicholas II and the rise of Marxian socialism under Lenin and his Bolsheviks. It sparked the beginning of a new era in Russia that had effects on countries around the world.Lead to the Soviet Union and the spread of communism.
  • Treaty Of Versailles

    The Treaty of Versailles was one of the peace treaties at the end of World War I. It ended the state of war between Germany and the Allied Powers. The severe demands of the treaty; however, caused economic decline in Germany which allowed for the conditions in which Adolf Hitler rose to power.

    As one of the world’s first antibiotic, doctors now possessed a tool that could allow them to cure their patients of deadly diseases. discovered by Alexander Fleming which was turned into a widely available drug nearing WW2.

    Holocaust

    Jews were targeted and methodically murdered in a genocide, one of the largest in history by the Nazis. On top of the murder of 6 million Jews, 5 million non-Jewish victims of Nazi mass murders, bringing the total to approximately eleven million. Use of Gas Chambers and Concentration camps.
  • Pearl Harbor

    The attack on Pearl Harbor was a surprise military strike conducted by the Imperial Japanese Navy against the United States naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. This lead to the United States' direct involvement in WWII. Originally ordered by the Japanese as a warning for the US to stay out the affairs of the Japanese Empire, ultimately backfired.
  • Atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki

    The United States (Harry Truman) dropped atomic bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The two bombings, which killed at least 129,000 people, remain the only use of nuclear weapons for warfare in history. Forced Japanese surrender in WW2.

It was an attempt by the United States to halt the spread of communism; however, that attempted ultimately failed. The war was fought between North Vietnam, supported by its communist allies, and the government of South Vietnam, supported by the United States and other anti-communist nation.
  • Cuban Missile Crisis

    The Cuban Missile Crisis was a 13-day confrontation in between the United States and the Soviet Union over Soviet ballistic missiles deployed in Cuba. It played out on television worldwide and was the closest the Cold War came to escalating into a full-scale nuclear war.
  • JFK Assassination

    JFK, was an American politician who served as the 35th president of the United States. Kennedy is assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald. His successor, Lyndon B. Johnson, uses the nation's anger to push through civil rights legislation in Kennedy's memory.
  • Apollo 11 Moon Landing

    Apollo 11 was the spaceflight which landed the first humans, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, on the Moon. This was a great accomplishment by the USA, proving the superior to the Russians during the Space Race.
  • Internet Invented

    Advanced Research Projects Agency Network, funded by the U.S Department of Defense used packet switching to allow multiple computers to communicate on a single network. Named the Internet Protocol, they developed a communications model that set standards for how data could be transmitted between multiple networks. After that researchers (different developers) began to assemble the “network of networks” that became the modern Internet.
  • Fall of Berlin Wall

    The Berlin Wall was built to keep East Germans from fleeing to the West. Symbolized the end of the Soviet Union. Its destruction, which was nearly as instantaneous as its creation, was celebrated around the world.
  • End of Apartheid in South Africa

    Following his release from prison on 11 February 1990, Mandela led his party in the negotiations that led to multi-racial democracy in 1994. End of the Apartheid.
