    Auschwitz Established
    The German concentration camp Auschwitz was established March 1st 1942 in southern Poland. It was one of the largest concentration camps that the Nazis controlled and many people died and suffered there.

    On June 6th 1944 the Allies had a huge success in invading the beaches of Normandy and taking them from the Axis powers. This was a large feat for the Allies and it can be seen as the turning point of the war.

    Port Chicago Disaster
    On the Port of Chicago a huge disaster took place on July 17th 1944. A huge accidental explosion took place from workers not being properly trained to handle bombs. The blast took the lives of 320 men.

    On April 30th 1945, Adolf Hitler died. After Soviet troops stormed Berlin Hitler committed suicide, effectively ending his evil regime.

    On May 7th 1945 Germany surrendered to the Allied forces. Without Hitler, their leader, they easily surrendered and ceased all attacks.

    Although the Germans had surrendered from the war, the Japanese did not back down so easily. On August 6th 1945 the Allies bombed the Japanese city of Hiroshima, killing many lives, but ending the resistance of the Japanese forces.
