    The government had to put limits to how much of a product people could buy. Americans had to conserve on food, clothing, and gas. The government feared shortages and unemployment and felt that the rationing would help avoid that.

    The U.S. stopped trading and financial relations with Japan. Japan and United States have been allies but the prime minister decided to attack. The Japanese commander in chief of the Combined Fleet had planned the attack.

    Franklin Delano Roosevelt established internment camps through Executive Order 9066. The cause of this was the fear and caution after what happened with the bombing of Pearl Harbor. The Navy isolated and arrested all Japanese descendants to New Mexico, Montana, and North Dakota.
