    • Many economic experts had predicted that they economy would be stable in the coming years. However, they were wrong. -Severe droughts and poor agricultural practices brought on the Dust Bowl (the dried top soil of neighboring farms blew up into the air covering the fields in sand, preventing future productions)

    • Remaining crops were all devoured by grasshoppers that emerged from the storm-many farmers went to the city in search for new jobs)

    • After winning the election against King in 1930, Benette had tried to help Canadians that were financially unstable by setting up relief camps for example -Due to the small wages and poor working conditions, 3000 men went on strike but within the next month, 20,000 men were on strike in Vancouver
    • The "On-to-Ottawa" trek was cut halfway for all but the leaders who were to meet with Prime Minister Richard Bedford Bennett to present their demands

    -Appeasement after appeasement for Germany was put to an end as Britain and France declared war after the invasion of Poland
    -Canada declared war shortly after British and in 1941, declared war against Japan after the bombing on Pearl Harbor
    -The Manhattan Project ended WW2
    -USA dropped 2 atomic bombs on Japan, ending the war

    -Many employment opportunities opened up especially for women, many jobs originally for me were opened to women
    -Women were also allowed to serve overseas in the Canadian Women's Army Camps
    -When the war was finished, women were expected to quit working so that the soldiers returning could find employment

    Polical Event during WWII

    -After Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor, the government decided to have all of the Japanese race to register with the RCMP
    -A week later, their rights were taken from them
    -After removing 22,000 Japanese from the 100 mile radius of British Columbia's west coast, the Japanese were put into internment camps
    -17,000 of the interned were Canadian citizens
    -On December 17,1945, 4000 of Japanese decent were sent back to Japan
