    The Battle of Gettysburg was fought in the town of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania between the Union and Confederate armies. This was one of the defining moments of the American Civil War. The Union achieved victory which killed the momentum of the Confederate army. As a result, this reduced the chances of foreign intervention.

    The cause of this war was due to the United States government wanting to obtain land which was currently homeland to many Native Americans. The Natives refused to give up ownership, which lead to the start of the Great Sioux War. The war lasted between 1876-1877.
