  • French Revolutionary War ends

  • Louisiana Purchase

    The United States buys 827,000 square miles of land for $15 million, which is now known as Louisiana.

  • War of 1812

    War caused by America wanting to expand their territories. As a result, they ended up taking on one of the largest naval power, Great Britain.

  • Trail of Tears

    Thousands of Cherokees and other Indians were marched to Oklahoma territory under the supervision of the U.S. army.

  • Texas became a state

    Texas joins the United States

  • Compromise of 1850

    Admitted California as a free state and also created the Fugitive Slave law

  • Civil War

    A series of battles fought between the Northern Union and the Southern Confederation.

  • Civil War ends

    The Civil War was ended in 1865 with the confederate surrender at the Appomattox Courthouse.
