Gabriel's Rebellion was a plan made by many slaves to attack and end slavery once and for all. The attack never happened; however, it led to more restrictions. This led slaves to have no more gatherings, which included church. This also completely eliminated any form of education for slaves, so much so that if a slave was found to be educated, death was the penalty.

The Civil War ended when the Confederates surrendered to the Union. Nearly 8 months later the 13th Amendment was added to the constitution that abolished slavery. Although this amendment was added, slavery was still around for many years.
