    The French and Indian war was were multiple battles against the colonist and the French. They fought over the Ohio River Valley. The French were assisted by the Native Americans and the colonies by England. The war ended in 1763.

    The Alien and Sedition Acts were passed in preparation for an anticipated war with France. These laws raised the residency requirements for citizenship from 5 to 14 years, authorized the President to deport aliens and permitted their arrest, imprisonment, and deportation during wartime.
