1. BELLBOTTOMS
Bellbottoms were like the clothing mullet before the mullet was really a thing. These pants that looked business up top yet screamed party down low were a staple for 70’s fashion goers everywhere. -
2. PLATFORMS
Wanting to be taller is the common desire of all people. High heels have been an amazing job for centuries, but then platforms became popular in the 1970s, and women fell in love with a new form of high-top shoes. This look even came back quickly in the 90s ... if you noticed my zig-a-zig-ah drift. -
3. THE AFRO
If the Farrah Fawcett look isn't for you, dear, the afro is too much ... literally, giving a sense of confidence and glitz behind your choice. -
4. HIGH-WAISTED JEANS
Obviously, in the 1970s, when high-waisted jeans and flared pants took the fashion world by storm, fashionistas tried to reinvent pants. Say hello and say goodbye to your belly button. -
5. TIE-DYE
6. FEATHERED HAIR
You could also call it "Do Farrah Fawcett". This lovely feather and perfectly groomed hairstyle added density and flow to many hairstyles in the 1970s (we make it a word). In the 1980s, it was all about hairspray. -
7. CHEVRON
Now let's talk about boldness. Hot pants are just long pants. These shorts for women have become the focus of so much controversy on social media that they have even received shorts with names. -
8.LARGE, FLOPPY COLLARS
Men and women in the 1970s were strong advocates of shirts with unusually wide (and often pointed) collars. Seriously, the '70s were almost twice the size of today's standard necklaces. The Saturday night fever must have been contagious because the more breasts / neck a man exhibits with oversized necklaces ... the better (and often baptized with a pendant necklace). -
9.PUKA SHELL & LOVE BEADS
Of course, clothing wasn’t the only mentionable fashion of the 70s. Men and women had a fair share of jewelry to accessorize with and puka shells, love beads and mood rings led the charge.
