    Traded to Fellows for repairs
After Tholem-va's ship came into some troubles, Neeva was traded to a Terran in exchange for repairs--Jason Eotvos Fellows, Professor of Theoretical Physics and Quantum Mechanics at the University of New Berlin. Neeva fails to meet the cut for Starfleet Academy that year. It was an especially gifted year, and she was too young to have some of the experience of other applicants. She's crushed. The coming year will be spent in intensive study, with supplemental application to make up for . Neeva has never failed at anything twice, and doesn't intend to. This may be where Neeva's habit of neglecting sleep finds its roots.
  • Reunion with Karnas

Karnas shows up unexpectedly at the Fellows Compound. After an account of why Fellows needn't call security, Karnas is allowed to stay. Older now, and not oblivious to his old friend's beauty and intelligence, Karnas takes his rightful place as Neeva's first real relationship. Sadly, it lasts only those months--Starfleet and the Klingon Navy call their respective operatives. The two part on the best of terms. If Starfleet hadn't been in Neeva's future, he would have asked her to marry him.
  • Sweet Sixteen

Neeva turns sixteen. Fellows actually celebrates with her for the first time. Ahe applies for the Academy again.
