Edgar Allan Poe was born on January 19, 1809 in Boston, Massachusetts. His mother was Elizabeth Arnold Hopkins Poe and his fathers name was David Poe Jr. He had two sibilings; an older brother, William Henry Lenard Poe, and a younger sister Rosalie Poe.

Poe's father left in 1810 and his mom took him and his sibilings.

His mother died from consumption. Mr. John and Mrs. Allan adopted him.

In 1815 Poe moved to England. He also attended grammar schoool in Irving, Scotland. He also went to the University of Virginia, and later he dropped out.

John Allan dies and leaves nothing in his will for Edgar. Allan never gave money to Edgar, so he had to drop out of school because he couldn't afford it.

He became the assistant editor at the Southern Literary Messenger in Richmond, Virginia. The same year his career kicked off and he feel in love and married his thirteen year old cousin, Virginia.

Poe started working for george Graham as an editor. he published the "The Murders in the Rue" in April 1841.

His wife died from consumption. "Deep in the earth my love is lying and i must weep alone." These are the words of Edgar Allan Poe after his wife passed away. He suffered from deppression, suicide attempts, and alcoholism.

On October 3, 1849 Edgar Allan Poe was found uncontios. He was taken to a doctor and was pronounced dead on October 7. They believe it was a suicide attempt with alcohol.
