  • Radar

    Radar
The Radar was first used as early as 1881. It is used to determine the range, altidude, direction or speed by electromagnetic waves. It helps us by telling us where our sattelites are and other things like asteroids and disasterous colishons like that.
  • Sputnik 1

    Sputnik 1
Sputnik was the first artificial satellite made in Russia. It is the first of them from the Sputnik Program. Sputnik 1 caused a problem over in the USA. The unexpected announcement of Sputnik 1's success made the Sputnik crisis in the United States even biggger and ignited the Space Race. The launch led in new political, military, technological, and scientific developments. While the Sputnik launch was a single event, it marked the start of the Space Age.
  • The Rocket

A rocket is a spacecraft which gets its thrust from a rocket engine. Rocket engines work by action and reaction. The engines basically push rockets forward by simply throwing their exhaust backwards extremely fast.
  • The Space Suit

    The Space Suit
A space suit is a suit that is specially designed to keep an astronaout alive in the diffrent air pressure and the diffrent gravity. A space suit should allow the astronaout natural, easy movements. The first space suit to be worn in space was on the Vostock spacecraft by Yuri Gagarin from Russia.
  • Space Food

    Space Food
This food is specially created and processed for astranouts in outer space. This food has been made to provide balanced and healthy diets for those hard days up in the space shuttles and stations. Space food was first eaten in 1961by the Russian space shuttle Apollo-Soyuz.
  • Lunokhod 1

    Lunokhod 1
The Lunokhod, also known as Luna 17, was designed to move across the surface of the moon. The Lunokhod held the world record for 30 years until it was broken by the Mars exploration rover.
  • Apollo Lunar Roving Vehivle

    Apollo Lunar Roving Vehivle
  • Skylab

    Skylab
The Skylab was the first space station that America launched by themselves. While the Skylab was up in space, it performed a numerous amount of scientific experiments. When the space station was reentering the earth's atmosphere, it disintegrated while some of the debris hit portions of Western Australia.
  • Canadarm1

    Canadarm1
The Canadarm was created by Canadians for the Space Program. A shuttle crew operates it by remote control. The Canadarm was used to retrieve and repair satellites from the space shuttle. It has also been used in the Hubble Space station repairs. The Canadarm was designed to work like a human arm. It has two joints at the shoulder, one at the elbow, and three at the wrist. The Canadarm was on the space shuttle STS-2.
  • Mir Space Station

    Mir Space Station
The Mir Space Station is a manned satellite designed to remain in space for a long period of time. It is an earlier version of the ISS. The Mir Space Station has been used for both military and civilian purposes.
  • International Space Station (ISS)

The ISS was created to develop and test technologies for spacecraft systems, develop techniques to maintain crew health and more. The ISS is a space station created by American National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the European Space Agency (ESA), the Russian Federal Space Agency (RKA), the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and the Canadian Space Agency (CSA). Right now, Catherine Coleman,Dmitry Kondratyev (Commander), and Paolo Nespoli are the astronaouts on the ISS.
  • Canadarm2

    Canadarm2
The Canadarm2 was first used in 2001 on the ISS(International Space Station). The Canadarm2 is bassicly a 1706 metre helping hand. It even has 6 joints like a human arm! The diffrence beetween the Canadarm2 and 1 is it is just a bigger version. Like the 1st one, its job is to bring payloads and cargo to the space craft like satellites.
