Sample Snow Emergency Timeline

  • Snow Emergency declared - 6:00 p.m.

    The Hibbing Police Department will be notified of Snow Emergency and they will notify the Hibbing Daily Tribune and local radio station by 6:00pm about the Snow Emergency Declaration to begin the next evening.
  • City Crews begin Snow removal at 3:00 a.m.

    City crews will begin initial snow removal clean up at 3:00 am and continue through 3:00 pm (cars will not be ticketed but off street parking is preferred).
  • Ticketing begins.

    The Snow Emergency begins at 6:00 pm that evening and violators will be ticketed and contacted starting at that time.
  • Towing begins at 10:00 p.m.

    Towing of vehicles begins at 10:00 p.m.
  • Snow Removal begins at 3:00a

    City crews begin the second round of snow removal at 3:00 am and will work through 3:00 pm.
  • Snow Emergency Extended if needed.

    If an additional round of snow plowing is needed an announcement will be made at 4:00 pm otherwise the snow emergency will end at 6:00 pm and normal parking may resume.
