    Ancient Rome
    Ancient Rome was a successful civilization that started as early as the 8th century and expanded as time passed. It grew along the coast of the Medditeranean Sea ( on the Italian Penninsula ) . Ancient Rome is one of the biggest empires ever. Over time, it changed from a monarchy to an empire. Ancient Rome was one of the most successful empire of all time. But then, they lost battles to the Germanic tribes which cled to the fall of Ancient Rome.

    The Black Plague

    The Black Plague
    The Black Plague was an infection that rodents and fleas caried with them. When the fleas gets that bacteria into humans, the outcome is terrible and can result in death. The epidemic spread through Europe and Asia. In Europe, it killed around 25 million people. The cause wasn't discovered until recently in 1894 in Hong Kong when Chinease researchers located a bacillus in the plague.

    The Renaissance

    The Renaissance was a period of time in which there was a lot of cultural movement. It was an age of new discovery geographically and in many other intelligent ways. In this time period, lots of changes were happening politically and in government ways. For example, democracy was invented in Athens and a lot of other things. The Renaissance played a big role in our modern lives.

    During the French Revolution, the citizens of France revolted because they did not like the type of government they had, which was an absolute monarchy, and also did not like the way their economy was being shaped. Although the revolts did not achieve all of their goals, the revolution played a big role in shaping it's country. The revolutionended when Napoleon Bonaparte who was a military leader became dictator.

    The Russian Revolution was similar to the French Revolution in a couple of ways: both citizens of each country wanted political and government changes. The Russian Revolution was more successful though, which would later lead up to the formation of the USSR. The revolution ended by the deposit of the last Russian czar and after that, the Bolsheviks established the USSR.

    Communism is basically an idea in which all political and social activity is controlled by the government. Russia was the first country to actually have a communist party. This party was called the Bolsheviks. The Bolsheviks were based on Communism and they later led up to the formation of the USSR.

    World War 2 was a time of war which lasted for 6 years. Countries such as the Soviet Union, the United States, and Germany were all participants in World War 2. World War 2 started in 1939 and 1945. One of the causes of World War 2 was when Britain and France declared war on Germany after Germany invaded Poland. The invasion caused Britain and France to go to war with Germany because Germany had invaded Poland. The Treaty of Versailles was also a cause of World War 2.

    They agreed on something in between and later proposed the treaty to Germany. Germany had no choice but to sign the treaty which made the German people mad. That's where Adolf Hitler was voted in by the people because he said that he would destroy the Treaty of Versailles. This later led up to Germany invading Poland.

    When Lloyd George of England, Orlando of Italy, Clemenceau of France and Woodrow Wilson from the U.S. met to discuss about what should be done with Germany because of the damage they had caused in World War 1, Wilson said he wanted to bring peace to Europe but Clemenceau said Germany should pay, and he wanted revenge on Germany. George was kind of in between Wilson and Clemenceau and but personally knew that the people of England would agree with Clemenceau's idea.

    People think that the Cold War was a physical war. But, it wasn't. It's simply a name given to the friendship or releationship between the USA and USSR after World War 2 and until 1980. It was basically a 40 year stand off between the USSR and the USA. In this period of time, both countries had increased their military preasure on each other. Both countries also threatened to start a nuclear war with each other.
  • Cold War Continued

    The USSR was going to import nuclear bombs into Cuba just incase they had to bomb the US, but then the US proposed a treaty saying that they would not invade Cuba if the USSR didn't send their nuclear bombs there and the USSR excepted this treaty. Later, the USSR fell apart becasue they couldn't hold themselves together.

    Ancient Greece was founded in 800 B.C. and lasted until 600 B.C. Ancient Greece was well known for all of it's achievments and it's cultural influence. In fact, Ancient Greece played a huge role in cultural influence to Ancient Rome. Ancient Greece was basically the roots of culture in Europe and the whole world in general.
