    Viking Invasions

    Language: Old Norse. Beowulf written in Old English. Britain first undergoes raids from the Vikings.

    Norman Invasion

    Language: Anglo-Norman, Old French. William the conqueror invades Britain. Canterbury Tales written in Middle English by Geoffrey Chaucer.

    Language: French, Latin, Greek, Italian. The age of Shakespeare in Early Modern English. He invented many words, which are still used today.
