    European Theatre 1938- Hitler took over Austria and Czechoslovakia. Europe was afraid of WW2 happening. Hitler signed an agreement to not take over or go after any other lands- he lied.
  • Euthanasia Program

    Euthanasia Program 1938- Hitler signed a secret order to kill children under the age of 5 that were undesirable or Jewish. Due to the effectiveness of the program, it was later expanded to adults.
  • Hitler Take Over

    Hitler declared war after he took over Poland, France and England.

    German-Soviet Nonaggression Pact-
    Germany and Russia made an agreement to split up Poland. Germany invaded, then Russia two weeks later.

    Blitzkrieg- Germany had various successful attacks: September 1939, Denmark April 1940, Norway April 1940, Belgium May 1940, the Netherlands May 1940, Luxembourg May 1940, France May 1940, Yugoslavia April 1941, and Greece April 1941. His strategy of attacking was quick and overwhelming.

    1941- Japan takes over the Phillipines, Guam, Dutch East INdies and the Wake Islands.
  • Pearl Harbor

    Pearl Harbor 1941- Japan attacked Pearl Harbor killing 2,403 American soldiers, sank 180 U.S. aircrafts and destroyed 18 Naval vessels.
  • FDR Declares War On Japan

    FDR Declares War On Japan
    December 8th-11th 1941- FDR declared war on Japan, one day after the attack on Pearl Harbor. On the day that he declared war, he gave one of his most famous speeches to Congress encouraging the war. 3 days after the declaration of war on Japan, Germany and Italy declared war on the U.S. and FDr had to present this issue with Congress and had to get permission to declare the second war.

    Executive Order 9066 1942- After declaring war on Japan, and the attack on Pearl Harbor by Japanese, Americans had some trust issues with Japanese seven Japanese Americans. FDR ordered that all Japanese and Japanese Americans to be sent to internment camps, in fear that someone could be a spy.

    Bataan Death March 1942- A 60 mile walk from Mariveles, Bataan, to San Fernando, Pampanga. For the survivors, they were loaded into boxcars and taken to another camp. 10,000 to 13,000 Americans and Filipinos died.

    Navajo Code Talkers 1942-
    Navajo Code Talkers 1942- During the time of war, Americans were concerned about Japanese listening on radio and hearing what their plan was. So they used one of the most impossible codes to learn and break- Navajo. They took Navajos and trained them to be marines. Over 400 Navajo Marines were used.

    Kamikaze 1944- Japan had aircraft soldiers that would purposely risk their lives to fly their aircraft into enemy bases and crash, causing explosions.
  • Battle in Bulge

    Battle in Bulge 1944/45- When Germany tried to take a Belgian city. They used a missile that hit Americans that caused a chaotic war. In the end, Americans won, but only at the cost of over 81,000 soldiers.
  • Japanese Leaders

    Japan's leader Hideki Tojo 1941/44- Prime Minister and General of Japan Hideki Tojo. He was one of the most aggressive military leaders that the Japanese had. He was focused and determined on killing Americans. He gave Japanese soldiers that before they died, they had to kill at least 10 American soldiers.

    Korematsu vs. U.S.
    Korematsu vs. U.S. 1944- A Japanese American college student brought Executive Order 9066 to the Supreme Court, saying that during time of war, races should not be discriminated. The Supreme Court went against it and said it was allowed.
  • Yalta Conference

    Yalta Conference 1945- A meeting between Roosevelt, Stalin and Churchill. They decided to split Germany into four zones for themselves. They wanted to have free elections for the citizens. When they split it up, Stalin went against the agreement and forced the Soviet to rule.

    Holocaust 1933-45: The mass killings of undesirables and Jewish people in Germany, lead by the Hitler regime. The Holocaust ended in 1945.
  • Germany's Defeat

    1945- Soviet soldiers and American soldiers met the German soldiers and defeated them. Germany was almost done with the war.

    1945 Final Solution- The rest of the followers in the Hitler Regime attempted to kill off the rest of their prisoners and get rid of as much as evidence as they could so they wouldn’t get charged for war crimes.

    Potsdam Declaration- Truman, Churchill and Stalin met up and agreed that they would only accept a surrender from Japan if they gave up their military and allow a government that would not enslave their citizens.

    Hiroshima 1945- The U.S. dropped a Atomic bomb named Little Boy on a city in Japan. This bomb killed 80,000 that day, and over 60,000 more that year.
  • Nagasaki

    Nagasaki 1945- 3 days after Little Boy was dropped, the U.S. dropped another one named Fat Man. 60-80 thousand individuals died.
  • Japanese Surrender Date

    Japanese Surrender Date
    1945 Surrender- 6 days after the dropping of the bombs, Hirohito surrendered in fear that another bomb would be dropped on one of the other 33 cities that were occupied bymilitary factories.
