    Japanese Invasion of China
    The Japanese invasion on China, also known as the Japan-China war, began in 1937. The war started when the Japanese claimed they were fired on by Chinese troop. The Japanese took this event as a oppertunity to attack China. The war against China had effected many. There were about 4 million Chinese casualties and 60 million were homeless. One fact of the war was the Chinese side were called The Guomintang. Also, by the end of 1937 the Japanese had succesfuly captured all of China's major cities.

    What- Japanese troops storm into China and begin a mass murder on Nanking and its people
    Why- because the Japanese were jealous of China's land and crops.
    Effects- over 300,000 deaths of the 600,000 that lived there.
    Facts- 20,000 women of all ages were raped

  • The Soviet-Nazi Non-Aggression Pact

    What- Germany and Soviets signed a pact to not fight each other during war
    Why- So they would not have to fight eachother in a time of war because they were sharing Poland
    Effect- eventually broken becuase Germany invades Russia
    Fact- They invaded because they wanted the Jews in Russia and because Hitler was suspicious of Stalin

  • Germany's Invasion of Poland

    The invasion happened because there was a pact between Germany and The Soviet Union to equally get porportions of Poland. So, being an ally to The Soviet Union, Germany invaded and took out the Polish army within weeks. France and Britain standing at the boarders declared war on Germany.     German Blitzkrieg
    German Blizkrieg, also known as Lightning War, was created to better Germany's army, by General George Patton when they tested it, they invaded Poland. Blitzkrieg creates disorganization in enemy forces while using mobile forces, like tanks, and using intensive firepower. The use of Blitzkrieg by the Germans impacted many. After the success from invading Poland, they went after the Netherlands, Belgium. and France. One fact of Blitzkrieg is that after all the damage, 40 million people died.

    • What/ Why- because the Soviet entered oil fields that were of need to the Germans and since Adolf knew there was bound to be a break in the treaty, he invaded Russia. -Effects/Impacts- The Germans attacked early so they were a little unprepared and underestimated the Soviets stregnth in divisons. Also, the battle went into winter and the Soviets were more comfortable and beat the Germans leaving 730,000 asualties. -Facts- The Russians brought about 200 divisions, which is 50 more than the

    Pearl Harbor
    what- a surprise attack on the U.S. Naval base in Hawaii by the Japanese
    Why- There are many theories of why they bombed us, but I believe it was because they were scared that we would over throw them eventually so they attacked first.
    Effects- about 3,000 American soldier casualties and this made Roosevelt declare war on Japan and we entered WWII.
    Facts- the attack was at 8 in the morning.

    Wannsee Conference
    What- top German leaders and rankings of Nazi Party got together to discuss how to kill the Jews.
    Why- to use a systematic system to annihilate the Jew race, but needed to inform the government of the Jew mass murder plan.
    Effect- they estimated that over 11,000,000 Jews would fall under this plan.

    What- US naval battle against Japan
    Why- it was one of the revenge plans of the U.S. from the attack on Pearl Harbor
    Effect- The U.S. Won and sunk the Japanese destroyer
    Fact- the U.S. won because of code breaking of the Japanese

    Operation Gomorrah
    What- Great Britain launched a series of bombing on the city of Hamburg, Germany and the U.S. bombed the northern part of Germany.
    Why- This was revenge by the British because Germany launched a series of bomb raids on London earlier on.
    Effect-30,000 deaths and made many Germans, including Hitler, angry because it meant a defeat in the war.
    Fact- the British came up with a German radar jamming system called "window"

    Operation Thunderclap
    What- Allied powers bombed eastern cities in Germany
    Why- to disrupt any transportation that was going on, on the Eastern front
    Effect- a total of 796 Lancasters that took part in the two raids on the night of the 13th/14th, and this was one of the lowest rates of loss for any major RAF bombing raid.

    What- the firat place that the Americans decided to attack first in Japan.
    Why- because they declared war on Japan after the attack on Pearl Harbor
    effect- after a month of fighting, the U.S. whiped out the 23,000 Japanses soldiers.
    fact- the Japanses faught from elaborate network of caves, dugouts, tunnels and underground installations.

    Why- this was to stop Pacific Island Fighting between the two countries
    Effect- in the end there were 14,000 US deaths and 77,000 Japanese deaths
