    Japan Invades Manchuria
    In 1931 the strong Japanese invaded Manchuria and broke the rules of the league of nations. The Japanese military was well developed but was economically low on natural resources.     Italy Invades Ethiopia
    "The League of Nations was faced with another test in 1935." The fascist leader of Italy Benito Mussolini had heard of Hitler's plans to expand Germany's territory.     The Nuremberg laws were "two race based measures" depriving Jews of rights designed by Adolf Hitler. under these laws, the Jewish could not use the German flag and were forbidden to date any non-jew.

    German bombers raided England on land and sea for the first time. The battle lasted for 8 long months. The German planes bomb 16 British cities and London being the worst being bombed 57 times! At one point, for 57 consecutive nights. The repeated bombing claimed 1 million homes and 40,000 lives and forced huge evacuations. After almost a year of the British not giving in Adolf Hitler gave up his plans for Britain and started operation Barbarossa which became the beginning of the end of WWII.

    'After the April 9, 1942, U.S. surrender of the Bataan Peninsula on the main Philippine island of Luzon to the Japanese during World War II (1939-45), the approximately 75,000 Filipino and American troops on Bataan were forced to make an arduous 65-mile march to prison camps." The marchers did the walk-in intense heat and were treated harshly by Japanese guards. Thousands died in what became known as the Bataan Death March.

    On June 22, 1941, Hitler sent his troops east for an invasion of the soviet union. "Three great army groups with over three million German soldiers, 150 divisions, and three thousand tanks" pushed into Soviet territory. The invasion covered a long distance of 2000 miles. By this time Russia had become the perfect army to defend which lead to a huge loss for the germans. Another reason the Germans lost was that they had very little strategy.

The battle began when 156,000 American, British and Canadian forces landed on five beaches around the heavily defended coast of the Normandy region in France. The mission required intense planning and was one of the largest military assaults in history and by the following spring, the allied powers had won.

    Both Great Britain and the United States celebrate Victory in Europe Day. Cities in both nations, as well as formerly occupied cities in Western Europe, put out flags and banners, rejoicing in the defeat of the Nazi war machine." On May 7th, 1945, Germany officially surrendered to the Allies so the U.S decided to make May 8th V-E day. Why is it important? V-E Day is important because it stands for Victory in Europe. It marks a very important time in WWII were the Axis powers surrender.

    On this day the U.S dropped the world's first atomic bomb on Japan to stop the war as they had one of the strongest militaries in the world. The explosion wiped out 90 percent of the city and instantly killed 80,000 people. Due to radiation exposure, tens of thousands of people would die later. Three days later, a second one dropped on Nagasaki, killing 40,000 people. Japan’s Emperor Hirohito announced his country’s unconditional surrender in World War II.
