    Hitler commands troops to invade Poland on the 1st, Soviet Union invades on the 17th. By the end of the Invasion Soviet Union and Germany divide Poland. The Polish were crushed by the much larger armies, losing 904,000 troops compared to Germanys 59,000 losses.

    France and Britain declare war on Germany
    Two days after Germany invaded Poland, France and Britain declare war on Germany while the USA declare their neutrality although they continued to supply Britain.

    Auschwitz

    A German concentration camp used in WWI, originally was going to be used to hold Polish prisoners that began to arrive in May. It was later 'repurposed' for Jewish slaughter, by the end of its time in action 1.1 million estimated prisoners were slain.

    German "Blitzkrieg" tactic Belgium, Holland and France overwhelmed
    The Germans tactic knows as the "Blitzkrieg" which involved a concentration of armoured and motorized or mechanized infantry in a spear head formation breaks through the defensive line using a series of fast powerful attacks backed up by air support. This tactic was incredibly powerful and let Germany invade Belgium, Holland and France.
  • British Espeditionary Force evaced from Dunkirk

    British Espeditionary Force evaced from Dunkirk
    After a hasty retreat 226,00 British and 110,000 French troops were transported using a damaged fleet taking advantage of even civilian boats ranging from Destroyers to pleasure boats from Dunkirk. 27th May-4th June

    Hitler was forced to postpone British invasion after the German airf orce was defeated at the Battle of Britain, Hitler changed focus to Soviet Union. It was a battle of planes, between the Luftwaffe (German airf orce) and the UK air force.

    Invasion of Russia, over 4 million axis troops invaded with over 600,000 motor vehices and 750,000 horses. There was an incredibly high casualty rate making up 95% of the Axis casualty's between 1941 and 1944.
  • Japan Attack Pearl Harbor

    Japanese surprise attack on pearl harbor designed to stop the US Navy from preventing Japans attack on south east Asia. It instead caused the US to enter the war.
  • Battle of Stalingrad

    Significant because it was the first major battle that Germany lost. It was between the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany over the City Stalingrad (name now changed to Volgograd), decisive victory for the Soviet Union.

    Allied invasion of France, 10,000 Germans against 156,00Allied troops, to date the largest amphibious invasion. A stealth attack divided into 2 phases, the first one being an air attack when 25,000 troops being dropped and then later the rest of the allied troops and vehicles amphibiously landed,
