    The United States and The Empire of Japan fought it. This battle was the most important battle of World War II. The United States won the battle. It stopped further Japanese advances and conquests in the Pacific. It proved to Americans that the Japanese could be defeated. The Japanese lost hundreds of their most experienced aircrew and sailors. Victory in the battle handed the strategic initiative in the Pacific to the US,an initiative they retained for the remainder of the war.

    The Allies fought the Axis Powers. Axis Powers: Germany and Itlay. The Allies: UK, Australia, India, New Zealand, Free French Forces. The British won. The battle was a turning point in the North African campaign. They formed 2 mobile armored divisons that were trained for desert war. The Battle of El Alamein, fought in the deserts of North Africa, is seen as one of the decisive victories of World War Two. It was pr fought between 2 of the commanders, Montgomery and Rommel.

    Germany, Romania, Italy, Hungary, Croatia againist the Soviet Union. It was a major battle of World War II in which Nazi Germany and its allies fought the Soviet Union for control of the city of Staingrad in the southwestern Soviet Union. The importance of the battle lies in the fact that the fascists were demoralized and victory of allies could well be anticipated. The battle raged for over five months. Germany lost about 1,00,000 men in this battle. Nearly 90,000 German officers and soldiers.

    The UK, U.S., Canada, Free France, Poland, Norway, Austrailia, New Zealand, Netherlands, Belgium againist Germany. The allies won the battle. In planning, as for most Allied operations, the term D-Day was used for the day of the actual landing, which was dependent on final approval. D-Day was significant because it was the turning poitn of World War II. It marked the start of the Allies' invasion of Western Europe and paved the way for Allied Victory.

    Germany fought the Allies. This was a major German offesive launched through the densely forested Ardennes region of Wallonia in Belgium, and France and Luxembourg on the western front toward the end of World War II. The Allies won the Battle of the Bulge. The offensive never came close to achieving its objectives and even had it done so, it is unlikely it would have affected the war much one way or the other. Without air support the offensive was doomed from the start, out once the sky cleared.
  • Iwo Jima

    United States won the battle. Was a major battle in which the United States Armed Forces fought for and captured the island.Iwo Jima, which means "Sulfur Island," was strategically important as an air base for fighter escorts supporting long-range bombing missions against mainland Japan. Because of the distance between mainland Japan and U.S. bases in the Mariana Islands, the capture of Iwo Jima was necessary to provide an emergency landing strip for crippled B-29s returning from bombing runs.

    It was fought on the Ryuku Islands of Okinawa. The United States fought the Japanese. The United States won. Okinawa was the first island that the Japanese considered to be actually a part of Japan. At the time of the battle it was still assumed that eventually the Allies would have to invade the main home islands of Japan itself, and Okinawa could serve as a nearby base of operations from which to launch the invasions.
