Battle of The Atlantic
My personal favorite, Battle of The Atlantic was the longest battle of WWII, lasting almost 6 years. The Battle of the Atlantic used U-boats and other warships of the Kriegsmarine (German Navy) and aircraft of the Luftwaffe (German Air Force) against the Royal Canadian Navy, Royal Navy, and allied forces. Nazi Germany was defeated in this battle. It goes down in history as the longest, largest battle on water ever. -
Battle of the Netherlands
The German forces invaded Belgium, Luxembourg, The Netherlands aswell as France. The Dutch didn't really seem to like that so they went to war against the Germans. The Germans ended the war by the Bombing of Rotterdam. The Netherlands remained German land until it was liberated at the end of the war. So in the end The Dutch put up a horrific attempt to save their land with the Germans owning all of the Netherlands and The Dutch goverment going in Exile by the British...The End -
Dunkirk
During the Battle of France, Dunkirk was the evacuation of British Forces and Allies. When British forces evacuated they ran into Hitler and company of Nazi Germans. The Germans had Dunkirk completely taken over which led them to be to powerful to the British forces which led them to surrender -
Battle of Britain
Battle of Britain, is the biggest air battle in WWII. Battle of Britain is one of the first major battles ever. The battle was the Nazi German airforce (Luftwaffe) against the British forces in British airfields. The Battle ended the threat of Hitler lanching his 'Operation Sea Lion' which was a plan to take over the United Kingdom. The image i chose is not WWII, it just looks cool and its in britian with planes. -
Hongkong
Another important battle for Canadians, the British government accepted an offer by the Canadian Government to send two infantry battalions and a brigade headquarters to help support the Hongkong Army. The Empire of Japan invaded Hongkon and the British, Canadian and Indian forces came to the rescue. The British ended up surrendering, which led Canada and India to surrender too. which made the Japanease owning Hongkong -
Dieppe Raid
The raid took place on the northern coast of France on 19 August 1942. The assault began at 5:00 a.m. and by 10:50 a.m. the Allied commanders were forced to call a retreat. This makes it the shortest battle of WWII, only lasting about 6 hours. Over 6000 Canadians were apart of this battle which makes it very historical to Canada even though they were forced to retreat -
Italian Campaign
The Italian Campaign was everyone against Nazi Germany, Kingdom of Italy and Italian Social Republic. When I say everyone, I mean everyone, Italian residents were fighting along side UK, France and Canada. This battle is very impotant to help end the war with Italy breaking their alliance with Nazi Germany and helped fight with UK, France, Canada and co. The best part is, The battle ended May 2nd 1945, 2 days after Hitlers death, wink wink nudge nudge. -
Normandy Landings (D-Day)
D-Day is the day the real battle started during The Battle of Normandy. The term 'D-Day' is for the military to determine when to attack. They used D-Day in the battle to elimnate Nazi Germans from Western Europe.
