    Germany invades Poland. They use the new german "Blitzkrieg" strategy. They started with loads of bombs to get rid of the enemy's air capacity, railroads, and communication lines. Then they rush them with a land invasion with troops and tanks and artillery. They swept through Poland starting WWII

    Dunkirk
    Germany invades France. The allied troops were trapped on the beaches with no way of escape and no chance of fighting them off. They used any boat or vessel they could find. Citizen's fishing boats or other boats were all used to flee the approaching Germans. In the end 338,226 soldiers were evacuated.

    Hitler is currently taking over the world. He has conquered most of Europe and now he was moving on to Great Britain. His only problem, the Royal Air Force. The battle of Britain, Germany bombed Great Britain in order to get rid of their air team. Then they move in on the invasion. The invasion's name was Operation Sea Lion.

    The Japanese destroyed nearly 20 American naval vessels and more than 300 airplanes. More than 2,000 American soldiers were killed and 1,000 were wounded. This caused us to declare war on Japan.

    Americans become prejudiced against the Japanese Americans causing them to be unjustly imprisoned. During the war, the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor and this caused the Americans to be scared and irrational. They were cramped in camps. And they went along with it to show they were not complicit.

    The U.S. surrendered on a Philippine island to the Japanese. The Japanese, instead of treating them with any sense of mercy they forced 76,000 captured Allied soldiers to march about 80 miles to prison camps. Life was hard in said prison camps.

    Germany invades the Soviet Union thinking it will be an easy and quick fight because of their better weapons. Instead of their vision of the battle, it turned out to be more than half a year long and the germans lost many people due to the terribly harsh cold weather. Both of the sides lost almost 2 million people. In the end, the Germans went home with their heads down in defeat.

    The D-Day invasion was the start of the liberation of Western Europe and the turning point. This victory gave the Allied forces hope for victory. Leading up to the battle the Allies lead the Germans to believe that the battle was going on in a different place as a distraction. While they were attacking balloon tanks we snuck behind their backs and attaked.

    The United States invades Iwo Jima. There were about 20,000 Japanese people hiding in caves. It took a long time because the Japanese had a better advantage. The advantage of stealth and hills. In the end the United States prevailed!!!

    The United States discovers you can use atoms as a weapon. They make these "atomic bombs" on Japan. We were the first to discover this and we used as a threat and it wasn't empty at all. Albert Einstein wrote a letter to the President saying that this would be possible.
