    this was the code for the Nazi's to try to invade the Soviet Union. Hitler was lossing his nchances with Britain, so he moves to take over the USSR, breaking the peace pact that was written between the two countries. this was said to be a turing point in the war because, now Germany was fighting two wars on both sides of them. germany wassurrounded and the Blizkrieg tackted was defeated.     On the morning of Dec. 7th, 1941, on the base of Pearl Harbor near Honolulu Hawaii. Hundreds of Japanesse fighter planes set a huge air strike bombing. in this act, killing 2,000 American soilders and sailors. the cause behind all of this was, the embargo the US put on Japan. the japanesse though that if they bomb the US it would scare them in to trade again. in the end the US went to war with Japan and Japan joind the Axes powers.     The battle of Midway was given to the US with an uper hand. the Japanesse though they would have a sneaky way of attacking the US, but with code breakers on the US, they knew about their plan. in the beging, japan was sending fire power at midway but when they left to refuel, the US airforce came in and wiped out more then half the japanesse fleet. the etemt was to get closer to hawaii, but the US stoped them.     from the beging of this battle, Hitler thought that taking over Stalingrad and control it, he would stop the soviets industrual usege. the battle was super tight. From street to street, to room to room, they were massive gun fire and luftwaffe airstricks. when the russian winter came.     also called operation "overlord", D-Day was an event that will fully be remembered by both forces. this was when the allied forces have a huge water, air and land invation on the beaches of North France, Normandy. the allies attacked on five sepret beaches, Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno, and Sword. Omaha being the toughtest and burtal beach to over concor. the goal was to regain france and push back the germans. in the end, the germans surrendered fance back and fell back.     first liberated concentration camp
    the russians were the first to free the jews people from a camp called Maidanek. once the red army had arrived, over 1.5 million people had died at this camp and the horror was then discovered by the final solutuion that germany had proclaimed. Anthor camp freed by the US was Dachau, the first and oldest camp in Germany. it was liberatied in 1945. the reason was to free the inusent people from their torrture. the impact was saving the jewish people.Booth, Owen, and John Walton.

    also called operation Detachment, the US was using the island hooping meethod to get closer to Japan it self. this was a big push for the US after the battle in the Philippines. The island of Iwo Jima was a big part in the Pacific war, as we capture it was then a new military base for the US.     was code name iceburg, this was the last and largest island battle between japan and the US. On the small chain of islands of Okinawa, the plan was for allied forces to make that the new military base to make new air assult attacks on Japan.     On May 7th, 1945, Germany finally surrenders from the Red Army after they invaid the streets of Berlin. Some german soilders staid to fight for there home land and others would run away, as Hitle did.     The race to making the ultimate weapon at the time was completed. Before the US dropped the first bomb called the "little boy" on Hiroshima, new president Truman sends a message to Japan telling them that we will drop it on them. Japan does not listen and the drop was droped. The bombs were droped to speed up the war in japan and to finish it.
