    Holocaust Begins
    Adolf Enchimann, one of Hitlers favored commanders began the satanic process of deporting Jews to prision camps. The Jews were first deported from Austria and Morvania to Poland. This deportation was labeled as the Lublin Plan and some 3500 Jews were killed in October alone. By the end of the war over 3 million jews had been sent to prison camps, executed, or in some way harmed by the attacks of Hitler and the Nazi party. October 12 started a nationwide mass murder of millions of voiceless Jews.

    Germany of course was the start of this war. On September 1, 1939 Germany invaded Poland and knocking down all of the dominos. September 3, 1939 Britian and France had enough of Germany bullying its friends and declared war and attacked on behalf of Poland. Although Poland had Britian and France within a month most of Poland was defeated by Germany.

    Winston Churchill becomes Prime Minister of Great Britian
    On May 10th Minister Neville Chamberlin resigns and Winston Churchill takes over Great Britians Prime Minister. As former member of parliment he was familiar with the way the government worked and his duties as Prime Minister.He also served as the Chancellor of the Exchequer in 1922. Churchill was most favored for his realtionship with President Roosevelt securing food, oil, and arms in his neck of the woods.

    Smith Act/ Alien Registration
    The Smith Act which was passed in 1940 was authored by Mr. Howard Smith of Virgina. This law stated that it was illegal to do or be apart of any group that had plans to overthrow the United States. These laws set up prison camps for anyone that was Japanese, from Japan, or of Japanese decent to ensure the safety of our country. These camps were not like the ones in Germany; the prisoners were not tortured just contained. Everyone involved was issued a card that held there identity and reason.

    Selective Service Act
    On September 16th Franklin D Roosevelt approves the Selective Service Act. The Selective Service Act was a draft that required all male citizens from the age of 26- 35 to register for the draft. The United States was not yet in the War yet but President Roosevelt felt it a smart step in preparing for its debute. This was the United States first peace time draft. During the draft 45 million registered and 10 million were inducted.

    Japan was running low on natural resources such as fuel (for there navy) and metal to build ships. When Japan started demanding these resources from the United States. The US didn't take kindly to the demanding and threatened sanctions.     Germany Declares War on United States
    On December 11, 1941 just four days after the United States had been brutally bombed by Japan; Germany declared war on the United States. Hitler feared that the United States would first come after Germany becuase of this attack and wanted to be prepared. Hitler had again broken his word against his Axis power; he had promised not to involve the United States in the war.

    Battle of Stalingrad
    The Battle of Stalingrad is thought to be the biggest battle in the war. This battle achieved running the Russian army dry. Hitler targetted this city specifically for his hatred of Joseph Stalin. Stalingrad was a huge target for oil and manufacturing so it was targetted by many. This battle lastest through part of a winter and killed many soldiers due to starvation, hypothermia, and not having the proper attire for cold temperatures.

    D Day; also known as the Battle of Normandy lasted two months. D Day was the official stat of the Battle of Normandy when over 150,000 soldiers landed on the beaches of France. This was the biggest invasion known at this time and took lots of preparation and training. This was also known as the beginning of the end of WWII. Once they reached the Seine River in Paris was liberated and the US was one step closer from ending the war.

    The GI Bill was created to inusre financial stababilty to WWII veterans. This money was given to the veterans to help them go through college, take time off, or invest in a business. It also created more veteran hospitals, rehab centers, and covered living expenses for the veterans for a limited time. The GI Bill underwent some minor changes in 2008 and is still in effect today benefitting the United States men and women who served to keep us free

    Predent FDR Wins 4th Presidential Election
    President Roosevelt was the first president to not only win a third consecutive election but the fourth. No one in United States history had never served over two terms in the presidential seat. President Roosevelt served more terms becuase he felt he couldn't leave office in the middle of the war or in the midst of caos caused by the Great Depression. Later on the United States Congress decided that a president could only serve two terms and it soon became a law.

    Battle of the Bulge
    The Battle of the Bulge was faught on the western border of Germany in the late 1944. At the beginning of this battle Germany advanced before the United States took the situation into their control. This cold and dreadful battle only lasted for a short period of time before the German forces made it to the Meuse River and their advances stopped. During this battle the Germans lost 100,000 men and the United States lost 81,000.

    On April 12 President FDR died at his cottage after moments after having a portriat made. He died moments after feeling a sharp pain in his neck and suffering from a cerebral hemorrhage. WIth President FDR in control for almost 14 years now Mr. Truman must take over in the time of nation wide grief. President Roosevelt will be remember for his accomplishments in hardship, grief, and chaos.

    Adolf Hitler Commits Suicide
    Adolf Hitler and his newest wife were under ground in a miltary bunker with there three dogs when Hitlers had enough. On April 30, 1945 Adolf Hitler poisoned his wife, their three dogs, and him self when he knew Germany was to far gone. Not only did he poision himself he also shot himself. Even his last days he was giving orders and still ruining the country. When Hitler committed suicide the country went into chaos because Hitler was the sole dictator.

    Alfred Jodl on behalf of Germany signed the unnconditional surrender ending the war in Germany. Jodl wanted to only limit the amount of fighting until Eisenhower demanded that they 100% surrender. This then helped the other countries prepare for the end of the war.

    Hiroshima Destroys Japan
    The bombing of hiroshima was the worlds first atomic bomb. The United States bombed Japan because they refused to surrender to the war. This bombed killed 80,000 people the moment it hit and thousands would be effected due to the amount of radiation. It also levled 90% of the city three days later the United States would drop a second bomb called Nagasaki that killed another 40,000 people.

    Japan after two bombs destroying miles of terrioty and killing thousands of people stood on the deck of the USS Missouri formally surrendering to the allies. At this point Japan knew with Germany out that there was no way for them to recover and win the war. Japan knew that many years of reparations and heart ache due to the bombs.

    Nuremberg Trials Begin
    The Nurmenberg Trials were the hearings of all of the Nazis responsible for any death or pain brought in the time of war. Twelve head leaders were senctenced to death and the others trialed pled guilty but bargianed that they were following orders from their higher leaders that would have killed them if the orders weren't followed. Most of the men that were involved in the concentration camps were sentenced a really small prision sentence or no punishment at all.
