  • Japanese invasion of Manchuria

    invaded by the Kwantung army of the Empire of Japan. and they maintained control of this as a puppet state throughout World War Two
  • Hitler becomes chancelor of Germany

    on this day president Paul Von Hindenburg names Adolf HItler leader of the National Socialist German Workers Party (Nazi Party). Hitler came to power rather quickly due to the people of Germany being desperate to get out of a depression from the debt caused by World War One
  • The Anschluss

    a union between Germany and Austria annexing Austria and creating a greater Germany
  • Kristallnacht

    also reffered to as the night of broken glass. Was a progam of a series of coordinated attacks on Jews throughout Nazi Germany and parts of Austria. The name Kristallnacht comes from the shards of glass laying on the streets after German soldiers broke the windows of Jewish-owned stores, bildings, and synagogues.
  • Invasion of Poland

    this marked the beginning of World War One in Europe Poland was invaded by both Germany and Russia. Germany attacked from the North, Soth, and West. As Germany moved father into Poland, Poland moved from their up front lines of defense and retreated back into the country along more established lines. After the Polish defeat in the battle of Bzura the Germans gained an undisputed advantage which cause Poland to withdraw and prepare for a long line of defense and wait for their allies to aid
  • Battle of Dunkirk

    the defense and evacuation of British and allied foreces in Europe from May 26- June 4. Germany invaded the Netherlands and advanced westward and in response the French invaded Belgium to engage the Germans in the Netherlands.
  • Attack on Pearl Habor

    a surprise military strike by Japan on the United States Naval base. It was a preventive attack so the U.S. wouldnt have anything to go to war with Japan. it was successfull by destroying everything but the U.S. aircraft carriers were luckily out at sea. and this is what brought the U.S. into World War Two.
  • Bataan Death March

    a forcible transfer by the Japan forces that moved 60,000-80,000 United States and Filipino prisoners of war to Camp O'Donnell. The march was about 128 km long and many POW died on the journey.
  • Battle of Midway

    a sea battle America defeated the Japanese fleet on their way to invade the Midway islands.
  • D-Day

    it was the day allies invaded beaches in France. D-day is the allied code word for operation overload it was important because it began the liberation of France defeat of Germany
  • Battle of the Bulge

    a sneak attack by Germany in a dense forrest that caught the allied forces completely off gaurd and was the costliest battle for American forces as they took the brunt of the German attack. THis battle also depleaded the German war supplies
  • Yalta Conference

    a meeting of the heads of government for the United States, United Kingdom, and the Soviet Union, for the purpose of discussing the reconfiguration in Europe after the war.
  • V-E Day

    Victory over Europe Day. The public holiday celebrated the day that the allies formally accepted the surrender of Nazi Germany therefore ending the war in Europe.
  • Hiroshima

    the day that the United States dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima Japan at the end of World War Two to end the war with Japan. it was the first nuclear weapon dropped.
