    This treaty was created after the first WW. Hitler violated the treaty by aggression. This was in a way the beginning of WWII.

    Poland was attacked by Germany, who took care of the western end, and U.S.S.R, which took the east. Before this they agreed secretly to divided Poland. This was not their last invasion.

    Formation of Allied Powers in WWII
    Britain and France first joined the war when Germany invaded Poland. U.S.S.R was apart of the Axis allies until Hitler betrayed Stalin and the Soviet Union turned to the Allies. Pearl Harbor brought us into the war and the Allied Power was formed.

    Japanese Bomb Pearl Harbor
    This was the most important event for the U.S. during this wartime. We were secretly bombed on Dec. 7, 1941 by the Japanese. This attack killed 2,403 men and injured 1, 178. The losses constituted more than the U.S. Navy had suffered in all of WWI. By this action they declared war against us.

    Korematsu v. United States
    Military believed that the American Japanese were spies and FDR gave the government the power to limit the Japanese's civil rights. Curfews were set for the Japanese and eventually were moved from their homes into detention camps.

    Women's Army Corps
    Army Chief of Staff General George Marshall formed the WAAC. In this program women worked in non-combat roles such as nurses, ambulance drivers, radio operators, and pilots. This was the beginning of the movement to women's rights and these are not the only jobs women did. They did a lot of factory work making bullets, detonators, etc.

    D-Day: Normandy Invades
    Allies battled for Italy and in the mist they planed a dramatic invasion of France. American General Dwight D. Eisenhower was the commander of this operation called "Operation Overlord. The operation involved 3 million U.S. and British troops and was known as D-Day.

    Once vice president for FDR but when the great president died Truman became president. He was faced with the difficult decision of bombing Japan. After warning the Japanese he allowed the two bombs to be released and immediately after the second bombing the Japanese surrendered.

    Hitler was prepared for the end when the Soviet Union stormed Berlin. He married his longtime girlfriend and wrote his last letter, blaming the Jews for his fall. After poisoning his wife he shot himself.

    General Eisenhower accepted the unconditional surrender of the Third Reich. Allies celebrated V-E Day(Victory Euorpe). This marked the end of WWII. Shortly after though President Roosevelt died from a stroke on April 12, 1945.

    This was a secret operation until Einstein wrote to FDR saying that this such weapon existed. When the Japanese was planning an invasion on us we warned them to surrender. They refused and we used the Atomic Bomb against them. After the second bombing they surrendered about three days later.

    They had such a large army we decided to us our new weapon- the Atomic Bomb. Truman wanted Japan and without their coorporation they had to face "prompt and utter destruction". Aug 6th Hisoshima was bombed than Aug 9th Nagask was bombed. Shortly after the Japanese surrendered.
