    Northern Securities  v. United States
    Was an court case heard by the US Supreme Court. The court 5-4 against the stockholders of the Great Northerners and Northern Pacific railroad companies. who had formed an Monopoly. James Hill was the President of the largest stockholder in the Great Northern Railway. He won financial support of J.P. Morgan and tried to take over Chicago, Burlington, and the Quincy Railroad.

    A book written by an American journalist and novelist Upton Sinclair. He wrote this book to portray the lives of the immigrants of the US. Many reader were concerned about the book because of the American Meat industry. The book talks about social programs, living and working conditions etc. Sinclair was later considered a Muckraker.

    Food and Drug Act also know as the "Wiley Act", was an Act that prohibited seizure of goods, and transported food, that had been adulterated. Which means the food and drugs were damaged, injurious to health. The ingredients in the food was not stated clearly on a label or found listed in the US Pharmacopoeia. This act alson banned the misbranding of food and drugs. Wileys USDA Bureau of Chemistry, was given responsilibility for checking the food or drugs, to make sure everything was correct.

    A landmark decision made in the US Supreme Court history. It justified sex discrimination and the usage of labor laws. This case upheld Oregon states restrictions on the working hours of many women, to protect the woman's health. Curt Miller was convicted of violating the law by making a women work more that 10 hours in a single day. Muller was fined ten dollars, He appealed it to the Oregon Supreme Court, then to the US Supreme Court.

    This Amendment was proposed because it wasn't fair that the representatives were the only ones that could vote for a Senator. This led into corruption, which broke the law to get favors or better treatment for yourself or someone else. Lots of the Senators that were elected by the State, had struck corrupt bargains, and lots of people were mad. Now it allows regular voters to elect their Senators

Wilson won this Election by gaining a big majority in the Electoral College winning 42 percent of the popular vote. Wilson had become the only President in the Democratic Party between 1892 and 1932. He was also the second of only two Democrats to be Elected between 1860 and 1932

The FTC was one of President Woodrow Wilsond big atcs against trust. Trusts and trust-busting were significant political concerns during the Progressive Era. Some of the unfair methods of competition that were targeted were: deceptive advertisements and pricing. This passed by the Senate with a 43-5 vote in September.

    The Clayton Anti-trust Act was enacted in the US a system that started with the Sherman Antitrust Act. This act phrohibited sales contracts, rebates etc. Labor unions and agricultural cooperatives were excluded from the forbidden combinations in the restraint of trade. This act restricted the use of injuction against labor, and it legalized peaceful strikes boycotts etc.

    18th Amendment was a prohibition to alcoholic beverages in the U.S. This had banned the selling and the transportation of the alcoholic beverages. This Amendment was ratified January 16, 1919, and was repealed by the 21st Amendment in 1933. In over 200 years the 18th Amendment still remains the only Amendment to ever have been repealed in the U.S.

    All citizens has the reason to vote, not based on sex anymore. Women had the Right to vote in all American elections . Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton came up with the amendment and introduced it in 1878, fourty-one years later in 1919, Congress submitted the Amendment to the States so it could be ratified.
