    Japan invades China- this invasion lasted until the end of World War Two. China's army was very poorly armed and were not well trained. Japan conquered large areas of China. Although, besides the under trained army, China managed to stay standing.

    Over a 6 week period Japanese military forces murdered soldiers and civilians. This happened on the same day that Japan gained control of the city Nanking.

    Executive order 9066-This was issued by Franklin D Roosevelt and allowed people to designate certain areas as strictly military areas. It gave warning to people of Japanese descent. This let them know of the evacuation and what would be happening to those of that descent.

African Americans were not allowed to pilot planes, but a segregated group of pilots was created for these men.

    Battle of Midway - This was the turning point of the war 5,000 Japanese soldiers died and 4 aircraft ships sank, 322 planes were shot down during this battle. This was naval battle. It only lasted 4 days. There was an estimated 2500 casulaties during this battle.

    Warsaw Ghetto - This was the largest uprising of Jewish descent. They were attacking their German escorts that were taking them to camps. Some armed with pistols and other weapons. Some of the Jewish fighters held out for more than a month trying to fight the Germans. The Jewish attackers were either sent back to camps or executed.

    Operation Overlord - German beaches were invaded It is still the best sea and land air take over. “Operation Overlord” was a code nickname and the battle was the battle of Normandy. The allies were successful because Germany was taken by surprise.

    US troops land in the Philippines - The US troops stationed themselves on land and sea. The goal was to defeat the Japanese imperial forces. The Japanese had taken over the Philippines. Although Japan was being destroyed they showed no signs or defeat and they kept fighting until the end.

    Battle of the bulge - Germans tried to take over a Belgian city-they misled to Americans and the battle became very wild. The Americans won but lost 81,000 soldiers.

    Yalta conference 1945 -Winston Churchill, Joseph Stalin, and Franklin Roosevelt all held a meeting. This took place towards the end of the war. The decision made was that Germany had to completely surrender

    Hitler commits suicide - The Nazis officially announce that Hitler has died and that he shot himself. He was hiding in an underground air raid shelter when he killed himself. Many would say that he killed himself because he did not want to get put in jail for his war crimes.

    Nuremberg trials- This was an international court of high ranking. Nazi officials were the main reason, they got charged for war crimes, crimes against peace and crimes against humanity. This consisted of 13 trials and many people there were for crimes committed during concentration camps.
