Germany decided to invade Poland to take over more territory and gain more power. Their plan was to bomb the country continuously and destroy all that was built. They succeeded and this event kicked off the war.

Three days after the first bomb, the U.S. dropped a bomb on Nagasaki. The United States wanted to push Japan's decision on surrendering after no response to the first bomb. This attack made the Japanese surrender and ended World War II.
